WB'S LEGAL MAN

Warner Bros. has tapped John Rogovin executive vp and general counsel for the studio. Wednesday's announcement comes a day after the studio's longtime general counsel, John Schulman, said he would be leaving his post of 25 years at year's end. Rogovin is the former general counsel of the FCC. At Warners, he will over see a staff of 125 lawyers in the studio's legal department and will report to chairman and CEO Barry Meyer.

SAVANNAH SALUTES

The 11th annual Savannah Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 25-Nov. 1 at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, will bestow lifetime achievement awards on actor Malcolm McDowell, songwriters Marilyn and Alan Bergman and journalist Peter Bart.

DIVERSITY FETES DEE

Ruby Dee will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Multicultural Motion Picture Assn.'s 16th annual Diversity Awards, set for Nov. 23 at Universal Studios' Globe Theatre.

VAN PEEBLES HONORED

Melvin Van Peebles will be presented with a Gotham Award Tribute at the 18th annual Gotham Awards. IFP will honor the director for his 40 years in filmmaking at the Dec. 2 event in New York.
