The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is forming a committee, dubbed Broadband 23B, to focus on creating mastering and packaging standards for broadband-delivered content. The formation of the committee reflects the growth of digital platforms as well as the confusion in the marketplace over the lack of interoperability. The inaugural meeting of Broadband 23B will be convened Oct. 27 at SMPTE 2008: Annual Tech Conference & Expo at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.
