A Desert rose

Anne Hathaway will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the 20th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival's awards gala Jan. 6 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The honor recognizes her performance in the current Sony Pictures Classics release "Rachel Getting Married."

Digital deal

Digital-cinema deployer Access Integrated Technologies and Christie Digital Systems USA — a leading d-cinema projector manufacturer — have inked a supply agreement. As part of the deal, Christie will provide up to 5,000 projectors for the previously announced AccessIT Phase 2 d-cinema deployment plan.

'Tron 2' to Bay firm

Michael Bay's Digital Domain has been awarded work on Disney's "Tron 2," directed by Joseph Kosinski. The company — in production on David Fincher's upcoming "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," from Warner Bros. and Paramount — will serve as the lead VFX house.

Mead into 'Hunters'

Edward S. Curtis' 1914 film "In the Land of the Head Hunters" will serve as the curtain-raiser at the 32nd annual Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival, which opens Nov. 14 at New York's Museum of Natural History. Sascha Paladino's "Throw Down Your Heart" is the closing-night film Nov. 16.
