Michael B. Seligman has been named supervising producer of the 81st Academy Awards telecast, which will be broadcast Feb. 22. Seligman, who specializes in producing live broadcasts, has been associated with the Oscar show for 32 years and has received four Emmy nominations for his work on the telecasts.

DIVERSITY honors

Abigail Breslin has been selected to receive the Female Nova Award, and Nate Parker will be recognized with the Male Nova Award at the Multicultural Motion Picture Assn.'s 16th annual Diversity Awards, set for Nov. 23 at the Universal Studios Globe Theatre. SONY COMMUNICATOR

Sony Pictures Entertainment has brought aboard Ann Junod Burkart as vp global communications. She comes from Fox Interactive Media, where she was vp corporate communications for New Corp.'s online division, serving as chief spokesperson and overseeing media relations for a number of FIM properties. Burkart will report to Jim Kennedy, Sony executive vp global communications, and will help lead corporate media relations for the firm. "Ann has extensive experience in corporate communications involving both technology and entertainment, and that is a really valuable combination," Kennedy said.
