Film Council taps Brown as commish

Former Cinesite chairman Colin Brown is the new British Film Commissioner, the U.K. Film Council has announced (HR 12/6).

Brown replaces Steve Norris, who left the position last month to join postproduction house Framestore as its managing director of film.

The film commissioner post was created to ensure that the U.K. remains a destination for Hollywood and overseas production, with Brown aiming to maximize inward investment in film production across the U.K.

Brown, who has sat on the U.K. Film Council Board since 2004, has stepped down from the board.
