Thanks to a two-year grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Los Angeles-based Film Independent is establishing a Sloan Producers Grant as part of the organization's Producers Lab. The first grant recipient, to be selected in the fall, will receive admission to the 2007 lab, a $25,000 development grant and year-round support from Film Independent. The foundation's goal is to encourage new scripts and films about science and technology.
