The Rodrigo Garcia film is set to premiere at Sundance

The first image of Ewan McGregor as Jesus in Last Days in the Desert has been unveiled.

Directed by Rodrigo Garcia and co-starring Tye Sheridan, Ciaran Hinds and Ayelet Zurer, the film is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 25.

McGregor stars as both Jesus and the Devil during an "imagined chapter from his 40 days of fasting and praying in the desert," when he is tested over the fate of a family in crisis, according to the film synopsis.

The film is produced by Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis of Mockingbird Pictures along with Wicks Walker of Division Films, who financed the picture in collaboration with Ironwood Entertainment, with Aspiration Media and New Balloon in association.
