First 'Queen of Katwe' Trailer: Lupita Nyong'o, David Oyelowo Star in Chess Biopic

Mira Nair directed the true story of Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.

The movie chronicles the true story of Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi. Lupita Nyong'o plays Phiona's mom and David Oyelowo takes on the role of the teacher that introduces the would-be prodigy to the game.

"Chess teaches you to solve problems. It teaches you to have a plan," says Oyelowo in the trailer.

Mira Nair directed the biopic for Disney.

Queen of Katwe hits theaters on Sept. 23.
