Five titles likely to heat up the sales booths in Berlin
EmptyThe Rum Diary
Eleven years after his barely recognizable turn as Raoul Duke in Terry Gilliam's surreal take on Hunter S. Thompson's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," Johnny Depp returns to the boozy world of the late, great "Gonzo journalist" in this adaptation of Thompson's 1999 novel. Chronicling the misadventures of a failed writer who becomes embroiled in a sketchy land development scheme in 50s-era Puerto Rico, "Diary" marks the return after a 17-year absence of director Bruce Robinson, whose debut, "Withnail and I," has developed a strong cult following since its release in 1987.

(Change of Plans)
Director Daniele Thompson's follow-up to his acclaimed 2006 release "Avenue Montaigne" should benefit from the rising international popularity of comic Dany Boon, the writer, director and star of last year's "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" (Welcome to the Sticks), the highest grossing Gallic film of all time. Co-starring Emmanuelle Seigner ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"), this ensemble comedy takes an incisive look at a group of Parisian artists and professionals who gather once a year for a summer dinner party.
Featuring a strong cast led by indie stalwarts Michelle Williams and Gael Garcia Bernal, acclaimed Swedish director Lukas Moodysson ("Fucking Amal," "Lilya 4-ever") makes his English-language debut with this competition entry. Williams and Bernal star as Ellen and Leo, a successful New York couple who appear to have it all until Leo's business trip to Thailand unwittingly sets off a chain of events that will change their lives forever.
Directed by idiosyncratic Brit helmer Sally Potter, this darkly funny look at New York's famed fashion week boasts an all-star cast that includes Judi Dench, Jude Law and Dianne Wiest. When an accident on the catwalk sparks a murder investigation, a schoolboy's backstage documentary about the contemporary fashion scene plays a key role in the search for a killer.

More Than a Game
The formative years of NBA superstar LeBron James take center stage in this inspiring documentary about the unlikely success of five talented young basketball players from Akron, Ohio. Led by a dedicated coach with little experience, this true-life underdog tale chronicles the nine-year journey of James' high school basketball team as it goes from a run-down inner-city gym to a possible national championship, all while the pressures of James' rising international celebrity threaten to tear the team apart.
