Focus Canada Set For Shanghai Film Fest

Ten Canadian films, including Denis Villeneuve's Incendies and Michael McGowan's Score: A Hockey Musical, are set to unspool at the Shanghai International Film Festival to shine a spotlight on Canuck filmmakers.
TORONTO – Focus Canada is returning to the upcoming Shanghai International Film Festival to showcase indie Canadian film’s range and differences with Hollywood movie fare.
Ten Canadian films have been chosen by Telefilm Canada, the federal government’s film financier, for this year’s spotlight of both English and French language fare.
The Focus Canada lineup includes Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies, Michael McGowan’s Score: A Hockey Musical, which opened last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and Michel Monty’s Life Begins.
Also screening in Shanghai is Stephane Lafleur’s Familiar Grounds and Dominic James’ Angle Mort.
Focus Canada, besides spotlight Canadian filmmaking talent, also aims to bring Asian and other international partners on board to help finance Canuck movies as co-production partners.
