Former Focus Features Exec Jonathan Halperyn Lands at FilmTrack (Exclusive)
FilmTrack recently closed an additional $10 million in funding
Former Focus Features executive Jonathan Halperyn has joined FilmTrack as managing director of East Coast and European operations.
The hire comes after FilmTrack, a leader in intellectual property management software for the media and entertainment industry, closed an additional $10 million in funding led by Insight Venture Partners — backers of China's Alibaba and Twitter — and Dave Goldberg, CEO of SurveyMonkey (Goldberg is husband of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg).
Also in recent days, FilmTrack acquired music licensing software platform Dashbox, founded by Goldberg (he is joining FilmTrack's board).
Halperyn will help drive FilmTrack's strategy across Europe and on the East Coast.
"We are thrilled for Jonathan to join our executive management team as the company is growing rapidly and providing critical business solutions to a wider group of customers worldwide," said FilmTrack CEO Jason Kassin. "Jonathan’s deep experience in international distribution, systems management and financial operations at the studio level will allow him to play a key role in our next stage of growth."
Having spent more than a decade at Focus, Halperyn most recently served as managing director of Focus Features International, where he oversaw all aspects of the foreign sales operation, including finance, financial operations, strategy, and distribution of the Focus library.
Halperyn added: "As a longtime client, I have always had the deepest admiration for Jason and Stephen Kassin, as I have watched FilmTrack become the global standard in IP management. It is with great enthusiasm that I now join them in their mission to bring the best toolbox for content and rights management to the media and entertainment industry worldwide."
FilmTrack's clients include CBS, DreamWorks Animation, Endemol, eOne, Legendary Pictures, Miramax, National Geographic and Starz.
