Foo Fighters' Nate Mendel Marries Former Publicist
The bassist said "I do" to Kate Jackson, co-founder of Grandstand Media, which represents The National and Courtney Barnett, among other buzzy acts
Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel married longtime girlfriend Kate Jackson last month, Billboard has confirmed. The ceremony took place Oct. 11 at Studio City's Tree People, the nonprofit conservancy organization based at the top of Coldwater Canyon in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. It is Mendel's second marriage.
Jackson, a founder of public relations firm Grandstand Media, which represents The National, Courtney Barnett, Thurston Moore and The xx, among other buzzy acts, is a Seattle native like Mendel, who spent much of the '90s playing in seminal indie band Sunny Day Real Estate. The two met while Jackson was director of marketing and publicity at Sub Pop, SDRE's label, in 2009. They started dating a few months later.
Mendel, 45, and Jackson were married by friend Seamus Dolan, the son of a former priest from Blacklion, Ireland, who also is from Seattle. The bride wore an Angel Sanchez dress; the groom wore Bottega Veneta.
Mendel's Foo Fighters bandmates, including frontman Dave Grohl, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shifflet and drummer Taylor Hawkins, were in attendance.
Music was provided by The Good Time Boys, a band that included Fleet Foxes' Christian Wargo and Aaron Sperske from Beachwood Sparks. Foo's Hawkins also came on stage to sing a few covers.
