Former Universal exec joins Relativity Media
Michael Joe named president of film companyRelativity Media on Wednesday appointed former Universal Pictures exec vp Michael Joe as president of the Beverly Hills-based film finance and production company.
At the same time, Relativity promoted production president Tucker Tooley to worldwide production president. He will continue to oversee creative operations and report to Relativity chief Ryan Kavanaugh.
Joe will be charged with expanding Relativity’s domestic and international distribution and managing banking and finance strategy, reporting to Kavanaugh.
“When we began the search for this position, we knew we would need someone who has been involved in all aspects of corporate strategy, film and overall finance and distribution,” Kavanaugh said.
“The addition of Michael Joe to the very capable team at Relativity will serve to strengthen the company’s platform for further expansion in its markets,” said Jesse Cohn, whose Elliott Associates is a Relativity investor.
A 15-year Uni veteran, Joe previously worked at Turner Broadcasting and LEK Consulting.
