Fox buys 'Awesome' script

Fox Atomic has acquired "Captain Awesome," a comedy spec script from writers Mike Arnold and Chris Poole. Mark O'Connor is producing.

The logline to the high-concept project is being kept under wraps though it is understood to involve a superhero element.

Arnold and Poole sold a Southern-fried action movie "The Grackle" with Matthew McConaughey starring to New Line back in June. The duo are practicing lawyers who write at night.

O'Connor is a former Fox exec who segued into producing. He is producing "Grackle" with McConaughey's j.k.livin prods.

After "Grackle" sold, Fox Atomic signed the writers to a blind deal. As part of their blind deal they were granted a 2-day first look at a spec the duo was working on. When Atomic saw the completed script, they moved quickly to buy it.

Arnold and Poole are repped by CAA, Principato-Young, and attorney Mitch Smelkinson.
