Just in time for blockbuster season at the megaplexes, Fox Broadcasting Co. has slated the launch of its film-biz reality show "On the Lot" for May 16.

The hourlong series from Mark Burnett, Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television centers on an elimination-style contest among aspiring filmmakers that culminates with the winner receiving a $1 million development deal with DreamWorks.

"Lot" is set to bow in a Wednesday berth and then move to a Monday-Tuesday rotation for the rest of the summer. On May 28, the 16 finalists will be revealed along with screenings of their first film efforts. On May 29, the first four contestants will be eliminated in what "Lot" has dubbed the "boxoffice results" show at 8 p.m.

As for the rest of Fox's summer schedule, the network will bring back "So You Think You Can Dance" on Thursday, May 24, before it settles into its regular Wednesday-Thursday rotation of performance and results shows at 8 p.m. (The May 30 edition will be a two-hour installment.)

Returning comedy "The Loop" is back on Sundays starting June 10 in the 9:30 p.m. slot. The cooking competition show "Hell's Kitchen" is getting fired up again for a June 25 premiere in the Monday 8 p.m. slot.
