Fox International Channels Picks Up Overseas Rights to 'Wayward Pines'
FIC will broadcast the show in 125 markets worldwide and will handle direct sales overseas.
TORONTO – Fox International Channels has boarded the Fox event series Wayward Pines as the first-window broadcaster in 125 markets worldwide.
FIC also becomes the exclusive international sales agent for the 10-episode thriller from Chad Hodge and M. Night Shyamalan.
The broadcast and syndication deal has Wayward Pines joining The Walking Dead, The Bridge and the upcoming Outcast series as FIC acquires content for its worldwide channels.
This deal is also novel in having FIC handle direct sales for all international television windows, non-linear and home entertainment for Wayward Pines.
Simon Thomas, FIC’s London-based executive vp content sales, will oversee all international third party deals.
The event series stars Matt Dillon as Ethan, a Secret Service agent who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho, on a mission to find two missing federal agents.
But instead of answers, Ethan's investigation only provokes more questions.
"This series has all the makings of an international hit -- a spectacular, world-renowned cast, thrills crafted by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan and a global Fox launch platform reaching more than 350 million viewers," FIC CEO Hernan Lopez said in a statement Thursday.
Developed for TV by Hodge (The Playboy Club) and executive produced by Shyamalan, the thriller has an ensemble cast that includes Melissa Leo, Toby Jones, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard and Juliette Lewis.
