Fox launches seven channels in India
Non-news channels debut NatGeo, CrimeNEW DELHI -- News Corp.'s Fox International Channels launched seven new channels in India Wednesday, including Fox Crime, FX, Baby TV and National Geographic Channels such as NG HD, NG Wild, NG Adventure and NG Music.
The launch of these paid channels expands FIC's India bouquet to nine outlets which include existing channels Fox History and Entertainment and National Geographic.
"We believe introducing these new channels will give us the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience base and keep our viewers enthralled by compelling content ranging from crime to comedy, from adventure to music and from fiction to factual shows," said FIC India MD Keertan Adyanthaya.
Fox Crime will include shows such as "Law and Order" and "Sleeper Cell" while FX will offer the likes of "Mad Men" and "Crash." A first of its kind channel for India is Baby TV, targeting young parents with kids up to the age of three. The kids channel market in India includes veteran players Cartoon Network, Pogo and Nickelodeon.
With FIC focusing on non-news channels, replying to a query at the press conference announcement Adyanthaya said that there were no plans to launch Fox News in India.
