Ailes biographer Gabriel Sherman, citing multiple unnamed sources, reported that the Murdochs have decided to fire the Fox News chief.

21st Century Fox isn't confirming a new report saying that the Murdoch family is planning to show Fox News chief Roger Ailes the door after broadcaster Gretchen Carlson filed sexual harassment claims against him.

"This matter is not yet resolved and the review is not concluded," a 21st Century Fox spokesperson said in a statement, referring to an independent review of the allegations set up by the company.

On Monday, Ailes biographer Gabriel Sherman, citing multiple unnamed sources, reported in New York magazine that the Murdochs have decided to fire the Fox News chief, but the timing of that decision was unclear.

Ailes has been with Fox News since its launch in 1996 and has guided the cable news network ever since. Sherman's latest report follows an earlier New York story that featured the accounts of six women, two on the record, that accused Ailes of sexual harassment.

Carlson, a longtime Fox anchor who recently hosted The Real Story and Fox and Friends, filed her lawsuit on July 6. Her complaint claimed that she "rebuffed Ailes' sexual demands" and was fired afterward.
