Fox Sports to distribute DirecTV show
'Dan Patrick Show' gets syndicated in industry first
NEW YORK - In an industry first, DirecTV has struck a syndication deal with News Corp.'s Fox Sports Net that allows the latter to distribute the satellite TV giant's "The Dan Patrick Show" to its regional sports networks and affiliates.The deal marks the first time that a programming distributor has sold original content into national syndication, the companies said. The TV show, based on the nationally syndicated weekday radio program, will be launched on FSN's regional sports networks, including DirecTV's three regional sports networks, beginning Oct. 25. The show will air live weekdays 9 am to noon ET. The "Dan Patrick Show" began airing exclusively on DirecTV's The 101 Network, the firm's original programming channel, on Aug. 3, 2009.In other DirecTV news, the company and JetBlue Airways said Monday they will make the NFL Sunday Ticket package available to JetBlue passengers every Sunday through the rest of the 2010 NFL season.
