Can Megan Fox save Mickey Rourke? The actress is attached to play an angel opposite Rourke in "Passion Plays," an indie drama that Mitch Glazer is writing and directing.

Rourke will play a trumpet player down on his luck in 1950s Los Angeles, and Fox will play an angel he tries to save from a dangerous gangster.

Rourke, Glazer and Fox are repped by ICM, which is putting together the project. Laura Bickford will produce.

Fox has landed a spate of projects recently, signing on for the Warner Bros. Western "Jonah Hex" and the Fox Atomic underwater actioner "Fathom."

Fox, who burst onto the scene in 2007's "Transformers," will reprise her role in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which opens June 24. She also stars in the upcoming Diablo Cody-penned "Jennifer's Body."

Rourke has taken on a series of roles since "The Wrestler," including the villain in "Iron Man 2."

Glazer, the screenwriter behind Al Pacino's "The Recruit," makes his directorial debut with "Plays." (partialdiff)
