Franco-Australian Co-Production 'The Tree' Gets U.S. Release
Distributor Zeitgeist also distributed the film's writer/director's debut release, "Since Otar Left."
SYDNEY -- Australian –French co-production The Tree, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, will get a U.S. release in New York and Los Angeles this summer after it was acquired by specialist distributor Zeitgeist.
Zeitgeist also released the feature debut by The Tree’s writer/director, Julie Bertucelli, Since Otar Left.
The Tree’s Australian producer Sue Taylor said she was “delighted” with the sale. “Charlotte Gainsbourg and Julie Bertucelli have large and loyal followings in the U.S. and Zeitgeist is the perfect distributor to look after this film, given their superb handling of Since Otar Left. We’ve now sold to over 30 countries, right across Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East, so it’s great to add the U.S. to the list. We’ll start with seasons in Los Angeles and New York and then expand the release across the country,” Taylor said.
The Tree recently received three Cesar nominations, France’s national film awards, on top of its seven Australian Film Institute award nominations last year.
