Berlin 2013: Fredric Jardin to Direct 3D 'Twist'
Red Bull Media is shopping the modern take on the Charles Dickens tale to buyers at the European Film Market.
BERLIN -- French filmmaker Frederic Jardin has signed on to direct Twist, a modern-day, 3D take on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, which will begin shooting later this year.
Jardin, whose last feature was the French crime drama Sleepless Nights (2011), is currently directing episodes of the International Emmy Award-winning action series Branquo for Canal Plus.
STORY: Berlin 2013: Launch of David Bowie/Iggy Pop Biopic 'Lust for Life'
Set in modern-day London, Twist follows a young graffiti artist who gets taken in by a street gang that uses parkour, or urban free-running techniques, to pull off art heists.
The feature will be shot in 3D and produced by extreme sports specialists Red Bull Media House, London-based production and sales outfit The Salt Company and Pure Grass Films, a London-based shingle part-owned by Christophe Charlier, chairman of the Brooklyn Nets NBA basketball team.
Red Bull will be shopping the project to international buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.
