Fremantle partners with YouTube online
Empty"American Idol" co-producer FremantleMedia has inked a global agreement with YouTube to create and distribute online formats exclusively for the Web in addition to using the Google-backed platform to showcase its current shows.
The deal, unveiled Monday, will work on a revenue-share basis that will see the parties split advertising money. Fremantle also becomes one of the first entertainment companies to use YouTube's online copyright protection tool VideoID, by which Fremantle can control its content online.
The deal was announced by FremantleMedia senior vp Claire Tavernier and YouTube Europe director of video partnerships Patrick Walker. (partialdiff)
