FremantleMedia Buys Dutch Reality TV Company
Ewout Genemans, a popular Dutch TV presenter, runs No Pictures Please, which is known for its controversial reality formats.
FremantleMedia continues its shopping spree, on Friday announcing the acquisition of a 75-percent stake in Dutch production company No Pictures Please.
The reality TV group is the production shingle of well-known Dutch TV personality Ewout Genemans. It is best-known for its controversial scripted reality series, including Fathers Pride, about gay sons and their dads, and From Russia With Love, in which men travel to Eastern Europe to find wives.
No Pictures Please is the latest European company FremantleMedia has snatched up, following deals to acquire Italy's Wildside, Fontaram in France and Brit shingle Corona Pictures. Earlier this week, the company took a minority stake in Naked Entertainment, the newly formed production banner from former Fox executive Simon Andreae.
In the Netherlands, Fremantle, a subsidiary of German media giant RTL Group, already controls Dutch production firms Blue Circle and FourOne.Media.
“Ewout has been on Dutch screens for more than 10 years and has developed a very keen eye for what audiences want,” said Georgette Schlick, CEO of Blue Circle, who brokered the deal for Fremantle. “We’re delighted to be working with him and excited for what he will continue to produce for the Dutch and global market.”
