French spent $3,000 on multimedia in '07

Half went to mobile phones subscriptions, Internet, TV

CANNES -- French consumers spent an average of 2,270 euros ($3,000) on multimedia last year, according to a study by Gallic ratings body Mediametrie.

Half of the money went to subscription services for mobile phones, Internet access and TV, with the average household spending 450 euros ($610) on mobile services.

French consumers spent an average of 600 euros ($815) on movies, music, TV and magazines during the period.

The study, conducted from July 2007 through May, is the first research into this area for the company and does not include comparative data.

The study does not take into consideration the current financial crisis.
