Fuel boosts Olivares to GM role

NEW YORK -- C.J. Olivares has been named GM of Fuel TV, the network said Monday.

Olivares has been assistant GM of Fuel since 2004, charged with managing the day-to-day programming, marketing and new-media applications. His new responsibilities will include those as well as adding advertising and affiliate relations, cross-platform development and developing international channels and programming blocks.

He will continue to report to David Sternberg, executive vp emerging networks at Fox Cable Networks.

Olivares was Fuel's first employee in December 2002. The network has increased its distribution from 5 million to 24 million homes, including the top MSOs and DirecTV. It's also available on such mobile services as AT&T, Helio and MobiTV, and several of its shows are available on iTunes, Amazon and AOL.

Olivares' previous experience includes serving as CEO of Broadband Interactive Group, an adviser for Extreme Group Ltd. in London and director of program development and acquisitions at Fox Sports Net.
