Fullscreen to Produce Live Concert for YouTube, Vine Talent
YouTube and Vine talent, including Connor Franta and JennXPenn, will perform during the Sept. 13 concert.
Fullscreen is getting into the live event business with INTOUR, a festival designed to showcase its roster of YouTube and Vine talent.
The Sept. 13 concert is being produced with Warped Tour creator Kevin Lyman and his production company, 4Fini, which also puts together the Rockstar Mayhem Festival each year.
Performers at the Pasadena Convention Center event include vloggers Connor Franta, Ricky Dillon and Jc Caylen, musician Sam Tsui and actress JennXPenn, all Fullscreen clients.
"We wanted to make sure we had talent who are really popular on YouTube and also talent who are really popular on Vine," said Fullscreen senior talent manager Daniel Rosen, noting that the tour could eventually expand beyond Fullscreen clients. "We really wanted to focus on people who we felt could translate their acts from online to the stage."
Lyman said in a statement that INTOUR "made total sense given our history of developing longstanding music festivals."
The interactive event, where fans can use technology to connect with their favorite YouTubers while they perform onstage, will feature a combination of sketch comedy, musical performances and dance acts. The talent will work with Marc Warzecha of improve group Second City to help them adapt their online talents for the stage.
Tickets, which go on sale on July 19, will cost $42 for general admission, $80 for VIP, which includes a meet-and-greet session with the talent, and $150 for all access, which also includes exclusive merchandise and a VIP afterparty where fans can meet with talent one-on-one.
Fullscreen is entering an increasingly crowded market for live YouTube events. DigiFest, just one of many events for YouTube stars that has cropped up in the last few years, sold out more than 12,000 seats in June. The production company, DigiTour Media, also operates a traveling show.
Rosen says INTOUR has an advantage because it is being produced by the same company that also manages the talent.
"One thing that hasn't happened is that these events haven't been created by people who are so close to the talent that they understand their careers in a 360-degree perspective," he adds. "We saw the opportunity to marry the talent's career objectives, what they're really good at, with the stage."
But he notes that Fullscreen doesn't consider DigiTour and other events to be competitors to INTOUR and will not bar its clients from participating. In fact, Vine stars and Fullscreen clients Jack and Jack are part of the next DigiTour.
Other performers expected to take the stage at INTOUR include Alx James, Brent Rivera, Crawford Collins, WeeklyChris, Dylan Dauzat, Charity Vance and Fresh Big Mouf.
