Fullscreen Taps What's Trending's Damon Berger (Exclusive)
Berger will join the digital media company as vp business development.
Fullscreen has appointed What's Trending co-founder Damon Berger as vp business development.
In his new role, Berger will work across Fullscreen's talent network, brand services organization and content units to build strategic partnerships. He joined the Culver City-based company about two months ago and reports to Fullscreen president Ezra Cooperstein.
"There are so many different opportunities to build new businesses around our creator network," Berger says. "Our core strength is really our creators. They happen to be not only the most influential talent across the platform, but they're also networks unto themselves."
Berger was previously CEO of What's Trending, the digital media company behind the news- and pop culture-focused YouTube channel of the same name. Prior to that, he was director of digital marketing at 20th Century Fox Film.
Fullscreen, which sold a majority stake to The Chernin Group and AT&T's Otter Media in September, has placed an emphasis on creating original content opportunities for its creators, launching Fullscreen Films in January, and strategic acquisitions, buying digital video producer Rooster Teeth in November. Berger and his team will work across those efforts as they seek out new business opportunities.
"We're talking to the different divisions about what they need from a growth perspective," he says. "We're looking for not only opportunities outside of our company but working with internal divisions about where we can take them and how we can help them start new businesses."
