The Governors Ball (Sunday)

The Scene: Seasoned event producer Cheryl Cecchetto's Sequoia Prods. transforms the L.A. Convention Center into a vivid sultan's palace replete with tent-like swaths of patterned silk draped from the ceiling, 20,000 roses and pheasant and peacock feathers. Food & drink? Fit for a king: Patina Restaurant Group, Grey Goose, Dove chocolate and Beaulieu Vineyard indulge.

HBO (Sunday)
Fountain Plaza at the Pacific Design Center

The Scene: Expect a Billy Butchkavitz-designed event inspired by the bohemian lifestyle of French designer Paul Poiret in taupe and black with splashes of red. Qool DJ Marv entertains guests who will feast on small plates by Wolfgang Puck, Godiva chocolate, Belvedere Vodka and Moet & Chandon Champagne.

Entertainment Tonight/People magazine (Sunday)

The Scene: L.A. favorites Susan Feniger, owner of the restaurant Street, and the dessert masters from MILK are part of an evening that brings the best of L.A. downtown. The Absolut Vodka bar has the drinks for guests listening to musical guest Mary J. Blige. The Scene: Fox and FX celebrate their nominees (including Emmy newcomer "Family Guy") with a party designed to exude old Hollywood glamour with a modern edge. Glenn Close, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Laurie, Seth MacFarlane and Kiefer Sutherland are among the expected guests.

Comedy Central (Sunday)
Falcon on Sunset, 7213 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood
The Scene: With 14 Emmy nominations, Comedy Central is bringing the funny in droves. Their self-proclaimed "laid back" after-party is at Falcon's indoor/outdoor space on Sunset. Jon Stewart and "The Daily Show" team of correspondents, Stephen Colbert, Sarah Silverman and "South Park's" Matt Stone and Trey Parker are just a few with whom you might share a laugh.

Seventh annual BAFTA TV Tea Party (Saturday)

The Scene: From 3-6 p.m., the TV Tea celebrates the 2008-09 Emmy nominees and talent from the U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Expect to see Glenn Close, Toni Collette, Tate Donovan, Colin Ferguson, Joely Fisher, Kathy Griffin, Jim Parsons and Tom Wilkinson.

The third annual Evening Before Emmy Party benefiting the Motion Picture Television Fund (Saturday)
The Lawn at Century Park, 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles
The Scene: A-list Hollywood gives back to their own while celebrating in a relaxed evening under the stars in Century City.

Showtime (Saturday)

The Scene: Taking over Craft's private dining room and part of the terrace, Showtime celebrates its nominees in an intimate lounge setting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Hosts Matt Blank and Robert Greenblatt and guests including Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, Toni Collette, Michael C. Hall, James Remar, Jimmy Smits, Lauren Velez and David Zayas will enjoy live music, the chef's selection of appetizers and desserts and Red Bull's popular Chambull cocktail (1⁄2 champagne, 1⁄2 Red Bull).

NBC Universal (Saturday)

The Scene: Wolfgang Puck will pull out all the stops when he welcomes NBC Universal's Emmy nominees and guests. Signature Spago pizzas, spicy tuna tartare, sweet white corn tortellini, cote de boeuf, a seafood display and Godiva chocolate bar are sure to satisfy a wide variety of palates. Expected guests include the casts of "The Office," "30 Rock" and "House," among others.

The Lipton Green Tea Gift Lounge (Saturday and Sunday, during rehearsals and night of show)

The Scene: Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris and presenters will be invited to customize their own gift collection. Lipton Green Tea and CBS Cares team to help raise critical dollars for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). For every star who stops by, Lipton Green Tea will make a donation on their behalf to this and other charitable causes.

HBO Luxury Lounge (Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
