FX's 'Sunny' shines in 3rd season debut

The Season 3 premiere of FX's comedy series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" averaged 2.3 million total viewers at 10 p.m. Thursday, according to Nielsen Media Research. That's a 62% increase over the June 2006 second season premiere (1.7 million), which was the show's most-watched episode.

The episode also grew over the Season 2 premiere by 77% in adults 18-49 (1.8 million vs. 1 million) and by 140% in adults 18-34 (1.3 million vs. 527,000). It also improved on its lead-in, the movie "Dodgeball," which averaged 1.6 million total viewers and 964,000 in 18-49.

A second "Sunny" episode at 10:30 p.m. Thursday averaged 1.9 million total viewers, including 1.4 million in 18-49 and 1 million in 18-34. Overall, the second season averaged 1.3 million viewers and 902,000 adults 18-49.
