No Shirt Is the New No Pants at the MTV VMAs

Shirtless for the win.

No new pants? More like no new shirts. If the VMAs' red carpet is any indication, going shirtless is the next red-carpet trend to watch.

Desiigner stepped out Sunday night in a pink suit but opted out of a buttoned-up shirt to better show off his chiseled abs. The "Panda" rapper paired his pastel-colored look with yellow pointy shoes.

Fellow hip-hop star Ty Dolla $ign went shirtless, too, choosing a black lace jacket without a tee underneath, while rapper G-Eazy arrived with Britney Spears in an unbuttoned velvet maroon shirt that revealed his chest.

The ladies went topless, too. Bright yellow-haired Cassie covered up in a gray blazer, sans shirt, that she paired with gold wide-legged pants. Catfish creator Nev Schulman's pregnant girlfriend Laura Perlongo went bare up top, save for a bomber jacket, and let her baby bump steal the spotlight.

The evening's guests aren't the first to pull off the look, though. Designer Jeremy Scott, who took over last year's MTV VMAs red carpet, is known for consistently pulling off colorful suits without a shirt underneath. Perhaps the awards show-goers are taking a page out of Scott's shirtless playbook.
