G4 on Monday announced its first original reality series, "The Block," which is set in the hotel chain of the same name that caters to snowboarders.

The Block, founded by professional snowboarder Marc Frank Montoya and Las Vegas hotelier Liko Smith, is described as "the first hotel chain that truly appreciates and caters to everything snowboarder." Among the unique features of the chain, which includes hotels in Big Bear Lake and South Lake Tahoe, Calif., are stripper poles and sit-down arcade stands in special suites and PS2 game consoles and boot/glove dryers in all rooms.

G4 said the series will feature "the best of the snowboarding lifestyle that few outsiders ever get to see," with each episode featuring hardcore riding on the slopes as well as the lives of the Lake Tahoe hotel's staff as they interact with the guests, pro snowboarders, bands and celebrities. The series also will follows the adventures of Montoya as he travels the globe and Smith as he tries to provide a balance between art and commerce.

"Action sports and authentic lifestyles are the perfect topics for G4's first foray into reality programming," G4 president Neal Tiles said. "We continue to look for new and exciting ways to give our male 18-34 audience engaging content, and we believe they will be especially receptive to 'The Block.' "

"The Block" is scheduled to premiere in January.
