The ‘Being Mary Jane’ star plays Chris Rock’s fiancee in ‘Top Five’

Gabrielle Union has signed with CAA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

Union plays Chris Rock’s reality-star fiancee in Top Five, which took in $7.2 million in its limited-release debut weekend. The cameo-filled comedy premiered at Toronto and sparked a bidding war, which Paramount won for a reported $12.5 million with a $20 million marketing spend.

Union also stars as the titular talk show host in the BET drama Being Mary Jane, which won NAACP Image Awards for both the show and its leading lady last February and has scored four nominations this year. Its second season begins Feb. 3. The actress will make her debut as an executive producer when Lifetime premieres the telepic With This Ring on Jan. 24. The adaptation of Denene Millner’s best-selling novel The Vow also is produced by fellow CAA client Tracey Edmonds and stars Jill Scott, Eve and Regina Hall.

Since breaking out in 2000 as captain of the rival East Compton High cheerleading squad in Bring It On, Union has successfully transitioned from such teen classics into films including Good Deeds and the sleeper-hit Think Like a Man franchise. The seemingly ageless actress also serves as Neutrogena’s longest-running spokesperson.

She continues to be repped by Jeff Morrone of Intellectual Artists Management and attorney Patti Felker of Felker Toczek.
