Gail Berman Exiting BermanBraun
She's leaving the company she co-founded with Lloyd Braun in 2007. Braun will now become sole owner by acquiring her interest.
Gail Berman is leaving BermanBraun, the media company she co-founded with Lloyd Braun.
The news comes as Berman's name continues to be bandied about for a top executive gig. She remains coy, noting in a statement that she is considering "several unique opportunities" and will make an announcement very soon. As part of the reshuffling, Braun will acquire Berman's interest and become the sole owner of the seven-year-old company, which counts 150 employees and projects across TV, film and digital.
“When Lloyd and I founded BermanBraun, we wanted to create a different kind of entertainment company – one that consisted of both TV and Film divisions but also one that established a thriving digital division encompassing content and technology," she said in a statement Wednesday. "It has been exciting to take my years of experience and leadership in all areas of content and apply them to this endeavor. I take great pride in the company’s amazing achievements over the past seven years. It has been my pleasure to work alongside Lloyd and our incredibly talented team at BermanBraun and I wish them continued success going forward.”
Added Braun: “I am very proud of the business we have built over these past seven years. My partnership with Gail has been a wonderful experience, professionally and personally. I know that everyone at our company joins me in wishing Gail much happiness and continued success.”
Prior to BermanBraun's launch in 2007, Berman held top roles at Paramount Pictures and Fox. At the latter, she served as entertainment chief from 2000 - 2005, involved in programs including Arrested Development, American Idol and Family Guy. In partnering with Braun, a former entertainment chief of ABC, the duo looked to work across platforms as producers. Though they have yet to launch a lasting TV or film hit, they can count digital efforts, including Wonderwall and Glo, among their successes.
