'Game of Thrones' Star Maisie Williams Joins 'Doctor Who'
The actress has been named as a guest star who will give the Doctor "the right sort of hell" in season nine.
Doctor Who producers have ventured into Westeros to find a guest star.
In an announcement made Monday, it was revealed that Maisie Williams was joining the hit BBC show for an episode in the upcoming ninth season.
"I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British culture," she said during her first day on set. "I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town."
Having found fame as Arya Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones, Williams will soon be seen in British coming-of-age drama The Falling, directed by Carol Morley. She also received a Shooting Star Award at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who," said showrunner Steven Moffat. "It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell."
