Gardner to leave FCN for banking
EmptyFox Cable Networks distribution chief Lindsay Gardner is exiting his post at the end of April for a position at private merchant bank Mediatech Capital Partners, sources said.
Gardner has been FCN's head of distribution since 1999, joining the company as executive vp distribution and most recently serving as president of affiliate sales and marketing, a post he has held since May.
Sources said he is taking a new role as director of global media development at Mediatech, which serves developing and established businesses in rapidly evolving media and technology-based industries. The company, established in 1996, is headquartered in New York, with offices in London and Beijing.
One potential candidate to replace Gardner at FCN is executive vp affiliate sales and marketing Michael Hopkins.
A rep for FCN declined comment Thursday.
During Gardner's tenure at Fox, the unit has launched at least one new network annually in each of the past six years. Gardner also has led the rollout of FCN's high-definition, interactive TV and VOD services.
FCN networks include FX, National Geographic Channel and its high-definition counterpart, FSN and its 18 owned-and-operated regional sports networks, Speed Channel, Fuel TV, Fox College Sports, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espanol, Fox Reality, Fox Movie Channel and the Big Ten Network.
