Gary Cole, Jackson Hurst Join Indie 'Hot Air' (Exclusive)
Gary Cole and Drop Dead Diva actor Jackson Hurst have joined indie Hot Air as the project begins shooting.
The comedy stars Jere Burns as Harold "Major" Patterson, who fakes his own death to escape a life sentence in jail, only to learn that he has a son he's never met. Matthew Gray Gubler, Christa Miller and Schuyler Fisk also star in the film.
Derek Sieg (Swedish Auto director) will helm the project from a script he wrote with Jeremy Goldstein. Kyle Fischer, Dave Szamet and Goldstein are producing the film, which will shoot in Austin, Tex., in May and June.
Cole will play “The Aviator,” a real-life historical figure manifested as Patterson's imaginary friend, while Hurst will play a city councilman.
Cole, who's repped by Gersh, stars on HBO’s Veep and will appear in the Melissa McCarthy comedy Tammy, out in theaters July 2.
Hurst starred as Grayson Kenton on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, and his film credits include The Tree of Life and The Mist. He's repped by Innovative Artists.
