Gena McCarthy making move to Lifetime
Programming exec worked at Discovery ChannelProgramming executive Gena McCarthy is moving from Discovery Channel to Lifetime.
McCarthy will direct the network's reality programming team. Her title will be senior vp of of reality and alternative programing.
"Gena's long track record of building successful reality franchises in the cable industry is extraordinary, and we look forward to her spearheading our long term unscripted strategy and growth," said JoAnn Alfano, executive vp of entertainment at Lifetime Networks.
A veteran of WE, TLC and Discovery, McCarthy most recently served as senior vp of development and production at Discovery Channel, where she oversaw development of shows such as "Pitchmen," "Out of the Wild," Swamp Loggers" and "Ghost Lab."
During her early years at the network, she executive produced shows such as "Dirty Jobs" and "Mythbusters."
