George Martin Dead: Hollywood Reacts

The legendary British producer, composer and arranger who worked extensively with The Beatles died Tuesday at the age of 90.

Stars from the worlds of music, film and entertainment took to social media to pay their respects to British music producer George Martin, who died Tuesday at the age of 90.

Martin, through his extensive work with The Beatles, touched the lives of countless millions around the world during the band's heyday in the 1960s as well in the decades that followed. Martin is so indelibly linked with the Fab Four that he was informally known as the "fifth Beatle."

The team behind the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, where The Beatles recorded almost all of their albums and singles between 1962 and 1970, expressed its "deepest condolences to the Martin family on hearing the sad news that Sir George passed away yesterday, aged 90."

The statement from the recording studio added: "Sir George transformed music recording with his creative flair, innovation and passion, and we want to express our deep sadness at losing such an immensely talented, charming and warm man. We are committed to ensuring Sir George's visionary legacy lives forever at Abbey Road Studios, and we are hugely honored to be part of his story."
