Gerard Butler Signs Up for 'The Headhunter's Calling'

Written by Bill Dubuque, the drama about a star recruiter whose life spirals into crisis will be Mark Williams' directorial debut.

Gerard Butler has signed on to star in The Headhunter's Calling, the family drama set in the world of big money recruitment from first-time director Mark Williams

The Scottish actor will play a ruthless headhunter called Dane Jensen. Jensen is set on taking over the company he works for when his young son falls ill and his priorities change. 

Voltage Pictures is representing the movie internationally and will launch the project to foreign buyers at the Toronto Film Festival. CAA brokered the deal and will also handle domestic sales. The film is in preproduction will commence principle photography on Oct. 26 in Toronto.

The human resources drama will be a change of pace for Butler, who's been better known in recent years for action. The Olympus Has Fallen star will, however, return to guns and guts in the upcoming sequel London Has Fallen (out in January) as well as Dean Devlin's Geostorm and Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt

The Headhunter's Calling is written by Bill Dubuque (The Judge, The Accountant). Williams and Butler will also produce along with Alan Siegel. Dubuque and Danielle Robinson will serve as executive producers, along with Dan Bekerman of Scythia Films.
