German, British research firms merge
GfK-TNS will be represented in 111 countriesMUNICH -- German market research firm GfK is merging with British colleagues Taylor Nelson Sofres to create GfK-TNS, GfK announced from Nuremberg on Tuesday.
The new company will be based in London and represented in 111 countries.
Calling the deal "a merger of equals," the companies expect to save at least 7 million euros ($150 million) in cost reductions over three years. GfK's strengths in Central and Eastern Europe will be complemented by TNS clientele in the Asian Pacific region.
