German Broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Rejigs Executive Team
Jurgen Horner Takes Over German TV operations with new bosses at flagship channels Sat.1 and Pro7.
COLOGNE, Germany - There are new faces at the top of two of Germany's leading commercial channels as broadcast giant ProSiebenSat.1 carries out a major executive shuffle at its flagship networks Sat.1 and Pro7.
Jurgen Horner, currently head of Pro7, will move upstairs, joining ProSiebenSat.1's board of directors as managing director of the group's entire German TV operations.
Replacing him at Pro7 is veteran TV producer and executive Wolfgang Link, whose credits include the German version of Pop Idol and Stromberg, a local-language take on The Office. Link has been head of Sat.1's entertainment operations for the past three years and, since 2011, has run entertainment format production across the entire ProSiebenSat.1 group.
Sat.1 managing director Joachim Kosack, the man credited with reviving fiction production at the Berlin-based network, is leaving the channel to join production giant UFA as one of its fiction heads. Under Kosack's management, Sat.1 delivered ratings hits including period mini-series The Pillars of the Earth and The Wandering Whore, sitcom Danni Lowinski and crime series The Last Cop.
Replacing him as the new Sat.1 boss is Nicolas Paalzow, another production vet, who is currently managing director of production house MME Entertainment. MME specializes in light entertainment productions such as the reality show hit Farmer Wants a Wife.
All executive changes will take effect on October 1.
