GFM Films Boards Aussie Actioner 'Blowback'
The British sales and finance banner will co-produce the project, which will be helmed by action and visual effects director Kimble Rendall.
LONDON -- London-based GFM Films is co-producing and will sell Blowback, a new $25 million thriller from Australian filmmaker Kimble Rendall.
Written by Brian Trenchard-Smith, Blowback details the story of an ex-special forces op who takes his 15 year old daughter to Sydney to show her where he met and fell in love with her late mother. When the daughter is mistakenly abducted, simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, the father is given just 72 hours to get her back in once piece.
GFM Films are co-producing with Aussie producer Antony I. Ginnane as part of a joint venture to develop, finance and produce the project.
It is set to shoot in Sydney, Australian in early 2013. It is being cast now, producers said.GFM Films is headed by industry veterans Mike Ryan and Guy Collins, both familiar faces on the global film market and festival circuit who were shown the script by Ginnane at the AFM last year.
Action and visual effects director Rendall is best known for directing sequences for such films as Ghost Rider, Killer Elite, iRobot and all three films in the Matrix franchise.
