Breaking: Gigi Hadid Did Not Cut Her Hair
The million-dollar answer: She didn't really chop her blond locks.
The Internet exploded on Sunday when Gigi Hadid hit the red carpet of the American Music Awards with what looked like a brand-new bob. But then the chatter turned to questions of "did she or didn’t she" when she coyly teased that fans would have to wait until tomorrow to find out if the new do was real.
Well, the answer is finally here. It’s fake. According to her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, it was a faux bob he created using a partial wig. The trick: He applied Matrix Style Link products to Hadid’s own wet hair, as well as the wet wig.
The inspiration? "The neckline of the dress," says Scarlett of Hadid's revealing white Bao Tranchi look. "The dress called for short, sexy, easy-looking hair." He started the look by applying Matrix Style Link Volume Booster ($20) to her towel-dried roots and a dime-sized amount of Matrix Style Link Gloss Booster ($20) to the ends and combing it in.
Scarlett then blew out her hair away from her face with a medium-barreled round brush and created separation and volume with Matrix Style Link Height Riser ($18) at the roots. Finally, the hairstylist applied more Matrix Style Link Gloss Booster for further shine and used a straightening iron to make it more piece-y.
Now for the next big question: Should the blond beauty cut her hair for real?
