Gina Rodriguez, Jake McDorman to Wear Sustainable Outfits to Oscars
The actors will be hitting the Oscars red carpet in eco-friendly designs from Suzy Amis Cameron's Red Carpet Green Dress campaign.
Now in its sixth year, the sustainable campaign was conceived by Suzy Amis Cameron, wife of Hollywood titan James Cameron, during the press tour for his blockbuster hit Avatar in 2009. Ahead of the Academy Awards, Red Carpet Green Dress champions eco-friendly fashion through an annual design challenge, with the winning pieces sported on the awards season’s most closely watched red carpet.
Golden Globe-winning Jane the Virgin star Rodriguez has been selected to wear a piece designed by designer Manon Gabard, while McDorman — who most recently starred alongside Bradley Cooper in American Sniper — will sport a tuxedo by Tingting Chen at the Feb. 22 awards show. Both winners are currently students at ESMOD-ISEM in Paris and will be mentored by Prophetik designer Jeff Garner, whose plant-dyed pieces already have been worn on the red carpet by the likes of Cameron Diaz, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.
"Gina and Jake are two talented young actors with big, exciting careers ahead of them, and I couldn’t be more excited to have them on board," says Cameron. Past eco-friendly designs that were worn on the red carpet were sported by the likes of Quantum of Solace's Olga Kurylenko and the Twilight saga's Kellan Lutz.
