GLAAD honors Cynthia Nixon, Joy Behar

'Brothers and Sisters' named outstanding drama series

Joy Behar, host of CNN Headline News' "The Joy Behar Show," was presented with an Excellence in Media Award and actress and same-sex marriage advocate Cynthia Nixon was recognized with the Vito Russo Award at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday night in New York.

ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" was named outstanding drama series, while Lifetime's "Prayers for Bobby," starring Sigourney Weaver, took the prize for outstanding TV movie or miniseries.

The award for outstanding TV journalism segment went to CNN's "American Morning" for a report titled "Why Will Won't Pledge Allegiance."

Gay Men, Effeminacy, and Our War with Ourselves," which was published on AfterElton.com.

The Broadway revival of the musical "Hair" was awarded special recognition, which was accepted by cast member Gavin Creel.
