The actor is best known for his role as Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the Fox musical.

Former Glee star Mark Salling has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The 33-year-old actor, best known as Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the hit Fox show, was taken into custody after the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a warrant at his home on Sunday.

Officer Liliana Preciado, a media spokesman for the LAPD, confirmed the arrest and said Salling was being booked in downtown Los Angeles. Salling posted bail -- set at $20,000 -- at about 2:30 p.m., according to L.A. County Sheriff's Department records.

His next court date is set for Jan. 22, 2016, according to sheriff's department records.

According to TMZ, more than a thousand images of “child sexual exploitation” were seized off the actor’s computer.

The arrest was first broken by Crime Watch Daily, a daytime syndicated crime show produced by Warner Bros. Television.

A representative for Salling did not immediately respond to calls and emails requesting comment.

This isn't Salling's first run-in with law enforcement. In 2013, he was sued for sexual assault and battery by a woman who alleged that he had unprotected sex with her despite demands he wear a condom.

Salling, who was one of the original stars on Fox’s musical dramedy, has been largely under the radar since the Ryan Murphy/Brad Falchuk series ended its six-season run in March 2015. The actor, who was downgraded from series regular after season five, continued to reprise his role as bad-boy Puck for its remaining two seasons as a recurring guest star as the musical rebooted itself following the graduation of its original core cast.

The Dallas native — who plays guitar, bass, piano and the drums — was raised in a strict Christian home and attended Providence Christian School and Our Redeemer Lutheran during his elementary schooling. After graduating from high school, he moved to Pasadena and attended the Los Angeles College of Music, where he studied guitar. During a March 2015 PaleyFest panel, he confessed that he lied about his age during his Glee audition in order to land the part of star Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith)'s best friend.

Ahead of the series finale, Salling told THR that he was busy prepping his own TV series for the past two years and, at the time, was pitching the pilot. "It's a musical with original music, so we had to record a whole 13-song record for that and write the episodes around the songs," he said at the time. More recently, Salling has been filming feature Adi Shankar's Gods and Secrets, starring Denise Richards and Glee’s Josh Sussman and Max Adler.
