Global Stars Take On the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
The Beckhams, Zhang Ziyi, Abhishek Bachchan and others join the viral charity craze
A tidal wave of Ice Bucket Challenges has spread across the globe. Celebrities from all over the world have willingly accepted buckets of freezing water poured over their heads to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS.
Hollywood stars, TV personalities, athletes and fictional characters have all taken on the ALS challenge in the U.S. in recent weeks, but the craze has gone viral across the world. Among those participating in the challenge were David, Victoria and Brooklyn Beckham; Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan; Chinese stars Zhang Ziyi and Han Geng; soccer legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo; British supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell; and even Toyota Motor Corp.'s president, Akio Toyoda.
However, some challenges remained rejected or ignored. Russian president Vladimir Putin ignored an ice bucket challenge from U.S. film director David Lynch, just like he wouldn't take up a similar challenge from Vin Diesel last week.
