Global TV Picks Up 'The Chicago Code,' 'Off the Map'

TORONTO – Canadian broadcaster Global Television has picked up the Fox crime drama The Chicago Code and ABC’s Off The Map for its midseason campaign.

The late additions follow rival CTV also Thursday claiming victory over Global Television during the just-concluded Canadian Fall 2010 TV season.

Global Television said it will simulcast the Jennifer Beals-starring Fox drama on Monday nights at 9 pm., from Feb. 7, 2011.

The Canadian network will also simulcast the ABC medical drama from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and Jenna Bans, Off the Map, on Wednesdays at 10 p.m., beginning Jan. 12.

Other midseason highlights for Global Television include ABC’s winter run of Wipeout, which will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning Jan. 6.

The Canadian broadcaster is also adding Bob’s Burgers to its Fox animated comedy lineup on Sunday nights at 8:30 p.m., from Jan. 9.

Other mid-season attractions for Canadian TV viewers include the People’s Choice Awards on Jan. 5, the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 30 and the Grammy Awards on Feb. 13.

Global Television’s midseason additions come as the TV network continues to play catch-up with CTV, Canada’s primetime ratings leader.

CTV on Thursday said it had the top-rated new Canadian TV series in fall 2010, CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says from Warner Bros., on Thursday nights with an average audience of 2.09 million total viewers, according to BBM Canada data.

CTV also said it had six of the top seven new series in Canadian primetime this fall, both in total viewers and the 25-54 demo.

These include CBS’ Blue Bloods with an average 1.78 million total viewers, and NBC’s Law & Order: Los Angeles with 1.65 million.

Global Television had the second-highest rated new U.S. series this fall, with CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and its average 1.92 million total viewers.
