Ryan Reynolds Used $860 Worth of Skin Care to Prep for Golden Globes
A guy's very first Golden Globes nomination is a big deal.
Blake Lively’s hubby Ryan Reynolds scored his first Golden Globes nomination for Deadpool, and for the big occasion he made sure to look the part. Along with a Gucci tuxedo, the Canadian actor spruced up with $860 worth of skin care by ReVive. Although that may sound like a lot, groomer Kristan Serafino says it was a "minimal" approach.
“When I work with Ryan my goal is to make his skin camera-ready with as little as possible. He’s a minimal makeup guy so we keep his regime quick and minimized to [include] skin prep and a bit of beard grooming,” she says. Additionally, “Trying to mask signs of being a busy dad with layers of products can have longer-term results such as skin irritation and upset the skin’s natural pH balance.”
To start the day’s preparation, Serafino applied a “generous layer” of ReVive Intensite Moisturizing Lip Balm Luxe Conditioner ($60) and let it absorb while she worked on the rest of Reynolds' complexion. She dabbed his face with ReVive Balancing Toner ($65) next, blotting off excess with a tissue instead of cotton so no fuzz would get stuck in his facial hair.
For hydration, Serafino pressed a dollop of ReVive Defensif Renewal Serum Daily Antioxidant Infusion ($235) in the center of Reynolds’ face, moving her hands outward with light pressure (a method of lymphatic drainage that promotes circulation) and working the serum into the skin until it was absorbed. Next she repurposed ReVive Rescue Elixir Anti-Aging Oil ($285) as a beard oil, dropping a bit on her hand and applying it under Reynolds’ chin and massaging upward toward his cheeks.
Finally, she pressed in ReVive Sensitif Oil Free Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen ($215) to take down any shine and smooth his pores. As for Reynolds' perfectly groomed beard, which was one of the evening’s best, Serafino says, “Since his haircut is tight on the sides with longer texture on the top, a manicured scruff gives his evening style a modern flair.” Safe to say all the pre-awards pampering paid off.
